Auckland at last

Made it to New Zealand at last. I’ve lost count cause of the multiple time zone changes and the crossing of the international dateline but I think I was in transit for about 36 hours. First thing I did upon arriving at the hostel was to take a 15-minute long shower. Aaaah. Never underestimate the small pleasures in life.

Auckland seems like a fairly pleasant city, built on the harbour. There’s a boat show going on right now, which I walked up to see. I also visited the Sky Tower, which is the tallest tower in the Southern Hemisphere and looks a little like the CN Tower. Well, not exactly. Anyway, I rode the elevator to the observation deck and looked out to see a view kind of like the one I’d seen a few hours earlier out of the window of the plane. Oh well. It was interesting watching the crazy people who were bungy-jumping off the tower, though. Doubt you’d see *that* in Toronto.

Still doesn’t feel quite real that I’m here. Maybe after a night’s sleep.

    Hey Sar
Amazing. Where did all this come from? I am so jealous. No matter how freaked out and unsure you are right now…..you are going to have a wonderful journey, with eye opening experiences. Like your Collective Soul quote on your email says.
I’ll keep in touch…..if you will.
Both Stein girls off and running…..what will Carla do?

    Vertigo!
Wow! That last picture of the glass floor is awesome! Anyone afraid of heights would lose their mind.

I think that their tower looks a little bit more Futurama-ish than our CN tower. :p

Also, it’s funny that the LAX airport had fake palm trees, couldn’t they just plant real ones?

I’m looking forward to your next posts. Let the fun begin!
