The Wandering Chocoholic

Return to summer

Well, that’s it, folks. I’m back on this side of the Atlantic, back in home sweet home Montreal. I arrived after a pretty painless flight from Amsterdam, on which I managed to doze a bit more, though I was still exhausted from the travel and in desperate need of shower and sleep.

One thing’s for sure: Summer is back with a vengeance. After a few weeks of freezing cold overnight temperatures requiring tuques and gloves and jackets, I stepped off the plane into muggy 28-degree heat and humidity. It was not an entirely pleasant feeling. My hair, which had been more or less behaving itself all trip, started to frizz up. And my eyes started to water almost immediately. Oh, hello allergies, I haven’t missed you.

But the good news is, I’ve returned to summer. Which means festivals, events, barbecues in the park, long nights where it doesn’t get dark until late, fresh strawberries at the market, 5 à 7s on a terrasse, street fairs, and tons to see and do. In the coming days, I look forward to catching up with all of you, and taking advantage of all the wonderful things that Montreal in the summertime has to offer.

It’s been an incredible trip. I can’t even begin to process all the things I saw and did in my few short weeks in South Africa and Namibia. Both countries completely surpassed my expectations, and that part of the world is definitely high on my list for a return visit.

Thanks to all of you for reading, sharing and commenting on this blog. As much as I love solo travel, it’s awesome to be able to share it with friends and family back home. It almost feels like you were there with me. I sincerely hope you’ve enjoyed reading about my trip as much as I’ve enjoyed living it.
