Mount Fuji, take two

What a difference a day makes!

Morning, and we were all set to head straight to Tokyo. But, lo and behold, the sun was shining, and we couldn’t resist the opportunity to see Mount Fuji on a rare clear day. That almost never happens, but then, it’s supposed to be incredibly rare to see geisha in Kyoto, too. Someone buy me a lottery ticket, cause my luck just keeps on going on this trip.

So, back to the train to the cable car to the gondola to the second gondola. Unlike the day before, all of these methods of transit were jam-packed. I guess we weren’t the only ones with the bright idea to take advantage of the weather and head up for the views. It took a couple of hours, but we finally reached the top, and we were greeted with some of the most stunning scenery you could possibly imagine. The clear skies allowed for views as far as Tokyo, and in the middle of it all, Mount Fuji, visible all the way to the snowy peak.

I took dozens of photos but none of them do the vista justice. It’s just one of those things that you have to be lucky enough to see for yourself, I suppose.

We headed back down after lots of time admiring the view, and made our way to Tokyo in the late afternoon. One day in Tokyo sacrificed for a crystal-clear panorama of Fuji-san. Worth it? Absolutely!
Up next: Tokyo.
