The Wandering Chocoholic

Chateaux and wineries

Hello from Beaujolais. Yes, we’re in wine country, staying at a veritable Chateau with a swimming pool and vineyards all around. It’s just like in the movies.

Yesterday morning, I dragged myself out of bed, totally exhausted, onto the bus for the ride down to Lyon, which took most of the day. We made two stops, one at a rest area and the other at a small town. Then, we got to the Chateau, which is located in the Beaujolais wine region not too far outside Lyon.

The countryside here is truly stunning. Upon arrival, we went wine-tasting. To me, it all tastes the same, but oh well. Then, dinner in the dining room. Elie was a server this time, and she made me take a photo of her carrying plates, to show to her manager at Bar-B, who she claimed would never believe her story without photographic proof.

Last night was party night at the Chateau. The theme was “shock your mother”. A lot of the guys dressed as girls. Don’t ask.

Today was the first truly hot day of the tour so far. We went for a picnic midday that was about an hour hike each way, and the heat was so stifling I could barely make it up. Nice view but not much different from the view from the Chateau. The rest of the day, everyone just kind of relaxed and chilled out. I took a nap in the afternoon, and we went swimming, had dinner, and just spent the evening hanging out.

Early morning departure tomorrow for Barcelona. Later.
